On January 19, at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, and Sports, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, reported on plans to improve the infrastructure for sports training camps in Kyrgyzstan, including Issyk-Kul.

Deputy Bolot Sagynaev raised the issue of the old sports base in the Ton district, which is associated with the name of the famous athlete Satymkul Jumanaazarov. He noted that foreign athletes often come to this area for training, but they lack a comfortable base for accommodation and preparation.

Sagynaev pointed out that the old base, which remains in the area, has ready-made tracks for training and is located at an altitude of about 2,500 meters. According to him, this is the only such facility in Central Asia, which can create excellent conditions for training.

The deputy also noted that a plot of land had previously been allocated in the village of Tosor for the creation of an Olympic village and inquired about the current status of this project.

In response, Moldazhiyev confirmed that work in this direction is ongoing. He added that the analysis shows a lack of sports infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan, which forces athletes to go abroad for training camps. In this regard, options for constructing a new base at Issyk-Kul, which will be located on the territory of the republican sports college, are being considered.

The agency director also mentioned the change of leadership in the Athletics Federation, where the new president is conducting an inventory of the existing sports infrastructure.

According to Moldazhiyev, athletics is one of the priority Olympic sports, and the issue of developing facilities in the Ton district will be studied jointly to find an optimal solution.
