The head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national futsal team, Nurzhan Jetibaev, took responsibility for the failure in the first match of the Asian Cup, which is taking place in Indonesia.

In this match, held on January 27, the Kyrgyzstan team faced Iraq and lost with a score of 2:4, despite having taken the lead 1:0.

“I am proud of how my guys played; they fought until the end and did everything they could. All the players showed maximum dedication.

We had a great start to the match — we scored from a set piece. I am confident that our game plan was correct, as we had chances to equalize and even take the lead. However, we failed to capitalize on our opportunities. We had decided in advance to involve our goalkeeper in attacking actions to create additional chances. He handled this task, but the result was not what we expected.

After conceding the second goal, we managed to get back into the game, but soon conceded again from a set piece. We tried to equalize by playing in a 5-on-4 format, but unfortunately, we could not succeed.

I want to add that the team performs as the head coach has taught them. I take full responsibility for the results. I am ready to answer for any outcomes of our national team’s performance. After returning home, I will be happy to meet with you and discuss any questions about the situation in the team and the players who were not at the tournament.

I played for the national team for many years, and now I am taking on the role of coach. We are all here as one team. It can be difficult for the athletes; they are often away from their loved ones. In this tournament, all the responsibility lies with me,” the head coach's words are conveyed by the Futsal Association of the Kyrgyz Republic.
