Putin kept his word, - Trump on the 'energy truce'

President Putin indeed kept his promise by temporarily halting strikes on Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Donald Trump during a press conference.

“From Sunday (January 25) to Sunday (February 1), there was a pause, which has now ended, and the day before, Putin began to attack them (Ukraine) again. He [Putin] kept his word in this regard. It was quite significant, you know, one week—we were ready to agree to any timeframe, as it is very, very cold there,” Trump noted.

The U.S. President also added that he had a conversation with Putin, but did not disclose the details of this discussion.

On January 29, Trump stated that he had asked Vladimir Putin to suspend attacks on Ukraine during the severe frost. According to him, the Russian president agreed to this proposal. Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented that Trump had suggested refraining from attacks on Kyiv until February 1 to create conditions for peace negotiations.

Recently, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on conducting a massive nighttime attack targeting Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and energy infrastructure. The ministry clarified that this attack was a response to Kyiv's strikes on civilian objects in Russia.
