According to Peskov, Trump signed his request to suspend attacks on Kyiv for a week, which should help create a favorable atmosphere for negotiations. "Indeed, President Trump made a personal request to President Putin to refrain from striking Kyiv until February 1," he noted in a conversation with journalists.
When Peskov was asked if Putin agreed to this request, he confirmed: "Yes, of course, it was a personal request from Trump."
Additionally, he was asked whether Trump's request applies to the specific date of February 1 in the context of a ceasefire. Peskov replied: "Until February 1."
However, he did not delve into details regarding whether Putin agrees with Trump's request, and whether it concerns a complete cessation of attacks or only on energy facilities. "I have nothing to add to what has already been said. I want to emphasize that this is about creating conditions for negotiations," the press secretary added.
The day before, Donald Trump stated that he had approached Vladimir Putin with a request to cease shelling Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities for a week due to severe cold. According to him, Putin agreed to this request, but did not specify when exactly this conversation took place.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that there had been no negotiations or agreements between Kyiv and Moscow regarding the cessation of attacks on energy facilities. He also expressed doubt that further negotiations in the UAE from February 1 would be possible due to a potential U.S. attack on Iran and the related complications in the region.
