The Kremlin commented on proposals to resume negotiations between Europe and the Russian Federation.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov characterized the signals from France, Germany, and Italy regarding their readiness to begin direct dialogue with Moscow as a significant step forward. He noted that the statements of several European leaders about the necessity of communication with Russia to ensure stability in the region represent a positive change in European policy. Peskov also added that this is an important evolution of Europe's current position.

According to Peskov, to resolve the situation in Ukraine, it is necessary to consider the overall security architecture in Europe, as security guarantees will pertain to this issue.

Additionally, he mentioned that Russia is open to negotiations with the United States and is expecting the visit of Special Representative Steve Whitkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, although the exact date of the meeting has not yet been determined.

Dmitry Peskov also expressed gratitude for Washington's efforts in resolving the Ukrainian conflict and emphasized Russia's interest in negotiations, despite the arrest of Nicolás Maduro.

In turn, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni noted that Europe needs to start a dialogue with Russia. She emphasized that European leaders should develop a unified strategy and begin negotiations not only with Kyiv but also with Moscow.

Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also called on Western countries to engage in dialogue with Russian authorities to find ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
