Today in Abu Dhabi, the second day of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine and Russia, mediated by the USA, has started, according to Rustem Umerov, who heads the Ukrainian delegation.
“We continue in the same formats as yesterday: trilateral consultations, group work, and further synchronization of positions,” he noted.
A TASS source also confirmed the start of the second day of negotiations. The agenda includes discussions on economic issues, territories, and mechanisms for a ceasefire.
The first day of negotiations took place on February 4, but after it, neither side made any official statements. Umerov noted that the work was “substantive and productive, with an emphasis on specific steps and practical solutions.”
Heading the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Abu Dhabi is Igor Kostyukov, the head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. From the USA, special envoy Stephen Witkoff, appointed by Donald Trump, and the son-in-law of the US president, Jared Kushner, are participating. The Ukrainian side is represented, in addition to Umerov, by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and the head of the president's office Kirill Budanov.
