Negotiations took place on Saturday, January 31, in Miami. Whitcoff reported that Russian special representative Kirill Dmitriev held "constructive and productive meetings" as part of the U.S. mediation role aimed at advancing the peace process. He shared this in his post on the social network X.

The American delegation was led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and Senior White House Advisor Josh Grünbaum.

Whitcoff expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting, noting that Russia is showing activity in its pursuit of peace in Ukraine. He also thanked the U.S. President for his key role in this initiative aimed at establishing a stable and lasting peace.

Earlier, the first trilateral consultations involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. took place in Abu Dhabi. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky positively assessed the results of these meetings and announced plans for a new meeting of the delegations on February 1.

The U.S. Secretary of State confirmed that the American delegation would also be present at the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian sides on February 1. However, as he noted, Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner are unlikely to participate in this meeting.
