During a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Karolis Navickas in Vilnius, Zelensky noted that a 20-point plan for ending hostilities, developed in Washington and repeatedly revised, was discussed at the negotiations in the UAE.
The president emphasized that many "problematic issues" were raised at the meeting, and although their number has decreased, Russia continues to seek a situation where Ukraine does not exist in the eastern part of the country.
Zelensky also pointed out that Ukraine's position on territorial integrity remains unchanged: "Everyone knows our position. We are fighting for our country, for our own," he stated.
Additionally, the President of Ukraine mentioned the need for security guarantees from the U.S. and Europe, which, according to him, can determine specific timelines for ending the conflict.
"Bilateral security guarantees from the United States are important for us. The document is fully prepared, and we are waiting for our partners to be ready to set a date and place for its signing," Zelensky added.
Earlier, U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff confirmed that the document on guarantees is nearly ready, but there remains one key issue that needs to be agreed upon.
Zelensky also noted that the U.S. is actively working on finding ways to end the conflict and pointed out the need for all parties to be ready for compromise, including the American side. "The Americans are trying to find a compromise. We are communicating in a trilateral format, taking the first steps towards achieving it. But for this, each party must be ready to compromise," he concluded.
