
Lavrov noted in an interview with the international network TV BRICS that Moscow was ready to accept the proposals from the US, but now they seem unwilling to continue the dialogue. "We accepted their proposals in Anchorage, but now they are not ready to continue," he said. The minister emphasized that Russia is open to full and mutually beneficial cooperation with the American side, but is actually facing new sanctions and delays of tankers in international waters. Lavrov characterized these actions as violations of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
"Now, India and other partners are being pressured to prohibit the purchase of affordable Russian energy resources, while Europe has long been restricted in such purchases, forcing it to buy American liquefied natural gas at inflated prices... Thus, the US is striving for dominance on the economic front," he noted.
According to TASS, the first round of tripartite security consultations involving Russia, the US, and Ukraine took place on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation was headed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Igor Kostyukov, while the Ukrainian side was represented by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov. The coordination of a peace agreement regarding Ukraine is expected to take at least one and a half months.
