It was later revealed that three F-15E fighters were misidentified and shot down by Kuwait's air defense system.
Meanwhile, the Iranian side confirmed that it attacked the American airbase "Ali Al-Salem" in Kuwait, as well as ships in the Indian Ocean following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of strikes by the USA and Israel.
According to Iranian military representatives, "the missile units of the ground and naval forces of the army" struck the American base and enemy vessels in the northern part of the Indian Ocean for several hours.
On the same day, another incident occurred in the capital of Kuwait. After air raid sirens were triggered near the US embassy, smoke was observed. Firefighters and ambulance crews arrived at the scene, as reported by Reuters, citing witnesses. There has been no official confirmation of an airstrike from the American diplomatic mission or the State Department yet.
According to AFP, smoke was also seen above a power plant in the northern part of the country. On the same day, debris from the planes fell on the "Mina Al-Ahmadi" oil refinery. The national oil company reported two injured workers; however, production facilities were not damaged.
On the morning of February 28, Israel and the USA conducted strikes on Iranian territory. US President Donald Trump announced the intention to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic, urging the Iranian army to lay down their arms and the country's residents to "take their fate into their own hands."
According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 555 people died as a result of these strikes. Among the deceased, there is confirmed information about the death of Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military officials, including Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Chief of Staff Abdulrahim Mousavi, and Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Pakpour.
In response, Iran also attacked the territory of Israel and other countries in the Middle East. Additionally, one of the Iranian drones attacked a British airbase in Cyprus.
