The winter competitions planned as part of the Mongolian National Sports Festival include "ice shooting with knuckles" ("Мөсний шагай") and ice contests. They will take place from January 22 to 25 at the rink in Khandgait and at the entertainment complex "Uukhain Duu" in Tsonjin Boldog.
In the last festival, which took place in 2022, 426 participants from 21 aimags and nine districts competed, including 126 in ice archery and 300 in sport shooting. This year, around 600 athletes have already registered, representing the same 21 aimags and nine districts.
This festival, held every four years, was founded in 1998 by Bayanmunkh Khorloo, who served as the head of the National Center for Physical Education and Sports and was awarded the titles of Labor Hero and Honored Athlete, as well as the title of Great Champion in wrestling. This year, the event will take place for the eighth time.
The festival aims to preserve and pass on the traditions and etiquette of national sports to future generations, and it plays a key role in the scientific development of these traditional disciplines and in supporting the formation of relevant policies.
