As of today, labor migrants in this region are prohibited from engaging in 117 different types of activities. Previously, restrictions were established in the Samara region on the employment of foreigners in the fields of passenger taxi services, education, pharmaceutical services, and personnel recruitment agencies.
Now, this list has significantly expanded, covering many new professions and sectors:
- trade;
- transport;
- public catering;
- manufacturing;
- courier services;
- education;
- medical services;
- information technology and science.
Thus, migrants are now prohibited from working as teachers, trainers, nannies, as well as in most retail organizations, in programming, and at enterprises engaged in the assembly of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The governor's decree also states that local employers are given three months to adjust the "number of foreign workers" in accordance with the new rules regarding restrictions in certain sectors of the economy.
Similar measures to restrict the work of migrants who have obtained patents in Russia have been implemented in other regions of the country. It is expected that the vacancies that become available will be filled by citizens of Russia or representatives of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia.
