A new state rehabilitation center for people suffering from drug addiction is planned to be opened in Kyrgyzstan. This information was announced on January 28, 2026, during a meeting between the Minister of Health, Kanybek Dosmambetov, and Professor and narcologist Zhenishbek Nazaraliev.

During the discussion, measures to improve the state rehabilitation system for drug-dependent individuals were considered.

It is already known that the new center will be based on an existing institution for rehabilitation after a stroke, located in the village of Dachnoye in the Alamudun district, and will include 80 beds. Patients who have suffered a stroke will receive treatment at the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Resortology and Restorative Treatment, based on medical indications.

The Minister noted that there is a growing threat to national security due to the spread of synthetic drugs, especially among the youth. Therefore, the Ministry of Health plans to strengthen preventive measures and rehabilitation work, including cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education, to conduct informational activities for students in schools and universities.

Kanybek Dosmambetov also emphasized the need for the legalization and regulation of rehabilitation centers to ensure a transparent system of assistance for drug addicts. Currently, a five-year plan for an anti-drug program is being developed to address existing issues.

Professor Zhenishbek Nazaraliev confirmed his readiness to assist the Ministry of Health in the methodological support of the rehabilitation center's work and in attracting qualified specialists in the field of recovery and rehabilitation.
