In Bishkek, another patient received a free kidney transplant. There are 200 more waiting

Today, February 26, another free kidney transplant was successfully performed at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health (NCMCH) in Bishkek.

Currently, about 200 patients suffering from stage 5 chronic kidney disease are waiting for transplantation.

According to the Ministry of Health, the transplant was performed on a 42-year-old patient who had been undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment since 2018. The donor was his older brother, born in 1978. The condition of both patients is stable, and they are under careful observation by the medical staff.

Kidney transplantation at NCMCH began in 2018. Since then, 81 transplants have been performed, 38 of which were conducted on a budget basis.

The clinic has implemented modern methods of immunological testing for transplantation, including histocompatibility determination by the HLA system, crossmatching (Crossmatch), and calculation of the PRA index. This innovation significantly increases the safety of the operations and improves long-term treatment outcomes.

The medical team at NCMCH is ready to provide consultations for patients preparing for possible surgery in the future.
