In Kyrgyzstan, the Most Effective Method of Surgical Treatment for Prostate Adenoma Has Been Identified
In the journal "Healthcare of Kyrgyzstan," a paper by Dr. N. Monolov has been published, in which he presented a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of various surgical treatment methods for prostate adenoma.
Monolov noted that although monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate has long been considered the "gold standard," this method does not always guarantee complete removal of hyperplastic tissue. This can lead to an increased risk of recurrence and limitations in the recovery of urinary function.
As part of a retrospective study, the treatment of 320 patients who underwent various surgical interventions, including monopolar TURP, bipolar plasmakinetic enucleation, and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, was analyzed. Intraoperative data, complication rates, and the dynamics of clinical symptoms over the year following the surgery were examined.
The results showed that enucleation methods are more effective and radical compared to traditional resection. The best results were demonstrated by holmium laser enucleation, which provided the maximum improvement in functional indicators: the maximum urinary flow increased by 3.1 times, and the complication rate was minimal.
Moreover, the use of laser enucleation significantly reduced the length of hospital stay—on average to 2.3 days.
Based on the conducted study, the specialist concluded that holmium laser enucleation is the safest and most effective method of surgical treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, especially in patients with an enlarged prostate volume. The expert recommends considering this method as a new priority "gold standard" in the treatment of this condition.
