According to Vladimir Peskov, a hunter-sportsman with many years of experience from the Jayil district, the badger belongs to the order of carnivores. However, like bears, it is less carnivorous compared to other predatory animals. "The badger is well adapted to a subterranean lifestyle and is practically omnivorous. In Kyrgyzstan, males can weigh up to 30 kg and reach lengths of up to 1 meter, although individuals weighing between 10 to 20 kg are more commonly found. Males are usually significantly larger than females. From the beginning of the second half of summer, badgers actively start to accumulate fat for winter hibernation, and by autumn, when hunting season opens, they become particularly fat," noted Peskov. Hunting badgers in Kyrgyzstan is permitted from September 11 to December 19, 2021.
Some badgers can yield between 3 to 6 kg of pure healing fat. By the time they settle into their burrows, their bodies are covered with a thick layer of fat. Rendered badger fat resembles bear fat, not solidifying even in severe frosts. In Kyrgyzstan, its price reaches 5 soms per gram. Hunting badgers is carried out with the help of burrowing dogs, such as Jagdterriers and Fox Terriers, as well as using Laikas and traps," added the hunter.
Nurgan Akkulova emphasized that the healing properties of badger fat are explained by its natural composition, rich in trace elements and vitamins A, B, E, and K. "One of its key properties is its expectorant action, which is especially important in treating chronic lung diseases. The active components of badger fat penetrate the respiratory tract, thin mucus, and eliminate toxic substances," reported the doctor.
Using badger fat in the form of rubs on the chest, combined with its internal intake, significantly increases the chances of a quick recovery from ARVI. The vitamin B contained in the fat helps improve the body's protective functions. It is important to remember that before using badger fat, one should consult a doctor and use it in conjunction with medications.
Additionally, badger fat contains polyunsaturated acids. With regular and proper consumption of this product, men can maintain their sexual health for an extended period.
