The First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov announced plans to create state laboratories in major cities in response to a question about forming a unified laboratory system in the country.

At a meeting of the Health, Labor, Women’s Affairs, and Social Issues Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, he noted that the construction of these laboratories is aimed at creating competition with private institutions.

Matkerimov pointed out that private laboratories often set unjustifiably high prices.

Initially, the new laboratories will open in major cities, and then plans are in place to expand them to regional centers.

“State medical institutions have expensive laboratory equipment that is not always used to its full capacity. Residents of the regions often turn to private laboratories. Our goal is to centralize the system and create state laboratories. We plan to start with one center where all necessary resources will be concentrated,” he added.

Moreover, Matkerimov emphasized that the services of state laboratories will become more accessible through the use of compulsory health insurance policies, and prices will be lower than those in private laboratories.
