In response to rising prices, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan organized a food fair in the Chui region. The event provided local residents with the opportunity to purchase products directly from producers, which helped avoid additional costs from intermediaries. Prices at the fair turned out to be quite attractive: onions were offered at 16 soms, potatoes at 37 soms, and fresh meat could be bought starting from 680 soms per kilogram.
This trading format is not a temporary initiative. The Ministry plans to hold fairs across the country, covering every region. In some localities, stationary points of sale have also been opened, offering meat products at affordable prices. The work of the mobile sites will continue until June, which should help stabilize the market during the spring period. The department assures that the stocks of essential products in the country are sufficient, and food security is under full control.
