Daniyar Amangeldiev, who holds the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in a recent meeting of the EEC Council in Moscow. The outcome of this event was the adoption of a number of decisions aimed at strengthening the food and economic security of the member states of the Union. Among the most significant decisions was the provision of tariff benefits to Kyrgyzstan for the import of raw cane sugar. In 2026, the republic will be exempt from paying import customs duties on 20,000 tons, which will provide significant support to local processing enterprises and improve the price situation in the sugar market.
Additionally, important changes in the transportation sector were approved: at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, it was decided to extend customs preferences for the import of turboprop passenger aircraft until the end of 2028. This measure is aimed at updating the country's aviation fleet. A mechanism for financial support of joint agro-industrial projects will also be launched, allowing agricultural cooperatives to receive preferential loans from the EAEU budget.
Participants of the meeting also approved new phytosanitary control rules, which will create more transparent conditions for fair business and enhance safety in the Union markets. The food industry also received support: until April 30, 2027, duty-free import of raw materials for confectionery products, including cocoa paste and cocoa butter, will be implemented in the EAEU. These measures are aimed at reducing costs for producers and ensuring sustainable development of key sectors of the country's economy.
