- Kazakhstan has initiated the extension of duty-free import of passenger aircraft in the EAEU until 2036. This information is posted on the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Currently, this measure is in effect until the end of 2031. The duty varies from 7.5% to 12.5% of the customs value.

According to a press release from the EEC, this proposal aims to create conditions that facilitate effective planning by airlines for the purchase of modern and safe aircraft for passenger transportation, as well as the development of the route network for air communication.

This proposal includes aircraft classified under two customs codes of the HS:

· 8802 40 003 5 – wide-body aircraft with an empty weight of more than 20 tons but not exceeding 90 tons, having two aisles between rows of seats and intended for long-haul flights;

· 8802 40 003 6 - all other aircraft with an empty weight ranging from 20 to 90 tons.

The weight category from 20 to 90 tons includes modern narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 MAX.

It is worth noting that most wide-body aircraft have a weight exceeding 90 tons (for example, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A380, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and others).
