Kyrgyzstan has secured duty-free imports of sugar and cocoa until 2027

At a recent meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council held in Moscow, a package of strategic measures was discussed that could provide a significant boost to the agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan. One of the main successes of the delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev, was obtaining tariff preferences for the import of 20,000 tons of raw cane sugar. This initiative, effective until the end of 2026, will ensure full capacity utilization of domestic factories and help maintain stable sugar prices for the country's population.

Another important step for the entire union was the expansion of the financial support program for agricultural cooperation. Now, the EAEU budget will provide preferential financing not only for industrialists but also for joint projects in the agro-industrial complex. This decision will create opportunities for launching new intergovernmental productions, accelerating import substitution, and significantly increasing the export potential of processors in Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, the EEC Council approved tax benefits for the confectionery industry: until spring 2027, the import of cocoa butter and cocoa paste will be exempt from duties. This measure will not only support local confectionery producers in a competitive environment but also help curb price increases for goods. Stricter control in the phytosanitary sphere will also contribute to cleaning the market of unscrupulous participants and ensuring product safety. The adopted package of decisions emphasizes the commitment to forming an independent and sustainable food system, where the interests of processors and consumers in Kyrgyzstan are protected at the international level.
