Government agencies are monitoring prices for essential food products
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev stated that the government continues to take steps to control prices for essential goods and inflation in the country.
Speaking before the deputies, he reminded them that with their support, amendments were made to the Tax Code that granted the Cabinet of Ministers the authority to regulate prices. As part of these powers, import duties were abolished, and tax benefits and VAT exemptions were introduced for certain goods.
Amangeldiev noted that in the post-pandemic period, the inflation rate exceeded double-digit figures, but thanks to the measures taken, it was possible to stabilize the situation.
“State regulation of meat prices continues — we are conducting regular market monitoring. This year, together with the National Bank, we are implementing additional initiatives to curb inflation. Last year, the inflation rate was 9.2%, and our goal is to prevent it from rising above 8%,” emphasized Amangeldiev.
