As of January 1, 2025, the area of irrigated land in the Chui region is 320 thousand hectares. This was reported by Erlan Omuraliyev, head of the Main Department of Water Management of the region, during a board meeting dedicated to socio-economic development.

According to his data, out of the total irrigated land, 276,694 thousand hectares receive water through inter-farm irrigation networks, while 43,394 thousand hectares are supplied by local water sources.

The Chu River, whose flow is regulated by the Orto-Tokoy Reservoir with a volume of 470 million cubic meters, is the main source of water supply in the region. It is also fed by rivers from the northern slopes of the Kyrgyz Range, such as Kyzyl-Suu, Shamsy, Burana, and others.

Omuraliyev noted that according to long-term observations, the annual flow of rivers in the Chui Valley is 1 billion 566 million cubic meters, of which 92,565 thousand hectares of agricultural land are irrigated thanks to mountain rivers.

Among the inter-farm irrigation networks, 173.3 thousand hectares (63%) receive water through main canals. Here are some of them:

These data were presented in the report on the state of the water management system in the region.
