In Kyrgyzstan, mandatory tax payments for workers in the sewing industry have been reduced. This was reported on the air of "Birinchi Radio" by Kubanychbek Isabekov, Deputy Chairman of the Tax Service.

According to him, the main tax burden on sewing enterprises previously lay not in the rate of the single tax, but in payments related to employees — income tax and insurance contributions. These payments ranged from 5,500 to 9,500 soms depending on the category of workers.

“After discussions, during which we received feedback about the high tax burden, we combined all categories of workers into one and reduced tax payments to 2,500 soms. This led to a reduction in taxes by three to four times. Now industry representatives are ready to work openly and officially register their workers,” noted Isabekov.

He also reminded that in 2022, a single tax rate of 0.25 percent was introduced for the sewing industry, which is the lowest rate among the manufacturing sector.

For other industries, the tax rate is significantly higher: 4 percent for cash transactions and 2 percent for non-cash transactions.

In addition, for some small businesses, there remains the option to operate under a patent. Small sewing workshops pay 2,000 soms for the first 10 machines, and for each subsequent ten — 1,000 soms. At the same time, the maximum turnover for each patent should not exceed 8 million soms.

Kubanychbek Isabekov emphasized the importance of the sewing industry in terms of social significance, as it employs thousands of people. The state is interested in creating conditions for the legal and stable operation of businesses.
