This year, the sowing campaign in Kyrgyzstan started two weeks earlier than last year. This was reported by Bolotbek Tashtanov, head of the Water Policy and Drinking Water Supply Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, on the radio.

According to him, in 2025, it is planned to sow about 1.25 million hectares, which exceeds last year's result by 40 thousand hectares.

Currently, the sown areas for grain crops, potatoes, and vegetables amount to 66 thousand hectares. In comparison, last year this figure was at 25 thousand hectares, noted Tashtanov.

Among the crops, wheat occupies 41 thousand hectares, barley — 45 thousand hectares, and potatoes — about 5 thousand hectares. At the moment, active work is being carried out in the Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Chui regions. In the Issyk-Kul and Talas regions, the sowing campaign is just beginning, while work in the Naryn region has not yet started.

As for seed supply, the level for grain crops is 88%, and for other types — about 90%. There are 86 seed farms operating in the republic, which provide subsidies of 30% for seeds of wheat, barley, potatoes, corn, and alfalfa.

Since the beginning of the year, nearly 35 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers have been imported into the country, and currently, about 10 thousand tons remain available. Supplies are ongoing, and the cost of fertilizers ranges from 24 to 35 soms per kilogram depending on the type.

The availability of pesticides is about 35%, and in recent years there has been no shortage, as supplies exceed demand. Technical equipment reaches 90%, with more than 90 thousand units of agricultural machinery in the country, of which about 22 thousand are involved in spring fieldwork.

The annual need for fuel and lubricants is 42 thousand tons of diesel fuel and 19 thousand tons of gasoline. According to oil traders, there is enough fuel at gas stations. An additional 7 thousand tons of fuel has been allocated at a preferential price of 74 soms per liter.

For the season, about 15 million seedlings have also been prepared, including strawberries, raspberries, and apple trees. There are 22 nurseries operating in the country.

Tashtanov noted that spring fieldwork is proceeding as scheduled, and there are headquarters in the regions that help farmers promptly resolve emerging issues.
