In Kyrgyzstan, by 2025, the sowing of winter crops has reached almost 65% of the planned areas. This was announced on the radio by Turat Idirisov, head of the department for crop production, horticulture, and cooperation at the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.

According to Idirisov, out of the planned 250,000 hectares, approximately 163,000 hectares have actually been sown. This result exceeds the similar figure from last year by about 20,000 hectares.

The ministry strongly recommends that farmers pay more attention to the sowing of winter grains, such as wheat and barley. This will be an important step in reducing the burden on agricultural machinery, as well as on fertilizers and water resources during the active spring fieldwork period.

In addition, the department urges agrarians not to leave fields unused after harvesting grains and to implement the practice of obtaining a second crop. This year, in the Chui region, corn was sown on more than 5,000 hectares as a second crop, which yielded a good harvest. Next year, it is planned to expand the areas for the second harvest.

Idirisov noted that in the southern regions of the country, second and even third crops have been successfully grown for many years. In the northern regions, such as Chui and Talas, it is also possible to obtain a second crop, such as corn or vegetables, after harvesting winter crops in June and July, provided there is irrigation water.

After the harvest of the second crop, agrarians are recommended to conduct winter sowing again. To maintain soil health, the ministry advises conducting annual soil analysis and applying mineral fertilizers strictly according to the norms to avoid negative impacts on plants, animals, and human health.
