See how the fish population is being increased in Issyk-Kul

The Department of the Fishery Complex under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reports on the work being carried out to stock the lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul.

An important point is that the plan for the artificial reproduction of valuable fish stocks has been agreed upon with the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and has received approval from the Department of the Fishery Complex. According to this plan, each lake will be stocked annually with fry of Issyk-Kul trout, carp (common carp), and muksun.

Forecasts for 2024: Plans for 2025:

13.6 million specimens will be released into Lake Issyk-Kul,
5.6 million specimens of fish fry will be released into Lake Son-Kul.

For 2026, it is planned:

14.1 million specimens are expected to be released into Lake Issyk-Kul,
3.5 million specimens of fish fry will be released into Lake Son-Kul.

In addition, employees of the Department of the Fishery Complex, in cooperation with the diving service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Tourist and Environmental Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are actively conducting raids against poaching at Lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul. As part of these activities, regular cleaning of the water bodies from illegally installed synthetic nets is being carried out.
