In 2026, it is planned to release 17.6 million fry into the lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul, of which 14.1 million will be directed to Issyk-Kul and 3.5 million to Son-Kul. This was reported by Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy department of the President of Kyrgyzstan, via social media.

He also noted that, at the initiative of the country's president, work continues to clean Lake Issyk-Kul of fishing nets located on its bottom.

“So far, significant volumes of nets have been removed. Strict measures are being applied to those who use nets and electric current for fishing. The results of these efforts are already beginning to have a positive effect: videos are appearing showing a large number of small fish along the shores of Issyk-Kul,” he added.

A moratorium on fish catch in Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul was introduced based on a presidential decree, which contributes to the restoration of the ecosystems of these lakes. In 2025, 13.6 million fry were released into Issyk-Kul, and 5.6 million into Son-Kul,” concluded Orunbekov.
