Kyrgyzstan introduces liability for violations of halal industry standards

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan has proposed the development of a draft law that introduces liability for non-compliance with the law "On the Halal Industry." This applies to both the production of halal products and the provision of halal services without mandatory certification. According to the ministry, changes will be made to the Code of Offenses.

This law regulates the requirements for the production, certification, and labeling of products that are classified as halal. Additionally, the draft law introduces liability for certification bodies in case of violations of compliance verification rules.

As part of its work, the ministry is also focused on improving the halal certification system, including the digitization of the certificate issuance process, increasing transparency in control and labeling, as well as strengthening oversight of production processes.

These measures are aimed at protecting consumer rights and enhancing trust in halal products in the country.

It is worth noting that previously recorded violations, including the presence of pork DNA in some producers, were resolved after reviewing production processes and conducting repeated laboratory tests.
