According to a study conducted by Fresh, the crossovers Geely, Changan, and GAC are among the cars prone to automatic transmission failures. In the case of the Geely Monjaro, transmission issues often arise after about 100,000 kilometers, which is significantly lower than that of competitors, reported Fresh's Chief Operating Officer, Evgeny Zhitnukhin.
As for the Changan CS75 Plus, owners report frequent malfunctions in the suspension and cooling system, but the biggest challenges are related specifically to the automatic transmission. Problems most often arise due to low-quality oil and insufficient maintenance. The conventional transmission in the Changan CS75 Plus typically does not last more than 120,000 kilometers without significant deterioration in performance and the need for repairs.
Despite the fact that the GAC GS8 is a relatively new car, it is also not free from issues with automatic transmissions. The main complaints concern the unstable operation of the torque converter and rapid wear of its components. GAC GS8 owners note that replacement of key transmission elements is required approximately every 130-150 thousand kilometers. Regular maintenance may slightly extend the lifespan, but significant repair costs are generally unavoidable.
The study also emphasizes that purchasing a used Chinese car with an automatic transmission carries certain risks. Although such cars often have attractive prices and a good set of options, deficiencies in component quality and frequent breakdowns make their acquisition ambiguous. Fresh specialists recommend that potential buyers consult official dealers for a thorough diagnosis of the car's condition, Zhitnukhin added.
