The FSB stated that the suspects in the assassination attempt on General Alexeev gave confessions

According to official data from the FSB, Korba was recruited by the SBU in August 2025 in Ternopil. The intelligence agency claims that Polish law enforcement agencies assisted him in this process, involving his son Lyubosh, who is a citizen of Poland.

After the recruitment, Korba underwent training at a shooting range in Kyiv and was tested on a lie detector. As a result, he was sent to Russia, as claimed by the FSB, in less than a month—in August 2025.

In the Moscow region, the suspect gained access to a pistol and an electronic key to the entrance where Alexeev lived. The FSB reports that Korba monitored him and received a monthly reward in cryptocurrency. He claims that he was paid two thousand dollars a month.

Korba stated: “In December, I was given the task to eliminate General GRU Alexeev. For carrying out this order, I was promised 30 thousand US dollars. After the assassination attempt, I was told to head to the airport and fly to Dubai, from where I had a ticket to Romania.”

Viktor Vasin, according to the FSB, was Korba's accomplice; he provided him with housing and bought a travel pass. The intelligence services characterized Vasin as a supporter of the FBK, who participated in Moscow protests and supported "Smart Voting," as well as spoke out against amendments to the Constitution and in defense of Sergey Udaltsov.

Additionally, the FSB press release mentions a third figure in this case—Zinaida Serebrytskaya, who allegedly rented an apartment in the general's building and hid the electronic key to his entrance in a stash in the Moscow region. She later left Russia and went to Ukraine.

Recently, the FSB reported the detention of Korba in the United Arab Emirates, after which he was extradited to Russia. The court in Zamoskvorechye arrested him on February 7.

Information has also emerged about the detention of Viktor Vasin in Moscow; however, details regarding his preventive measure are currently unavailable. Serebrytskaya, for her part, remains at large.

The assassination attempt on Alexeev occurred on February 6, when the attacker, disguised as a courier, entered Alexeev's apartment and opened fire. The general was hospitalized, and on February 7, according to media reports, he regained consciousness.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that this terrorist act “confirms the Zelensky regime's intention to disrupt the negotiation process.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga denied these accusations, stating that Ukraine has nothing to do with the assassination attempt on Alexeev. Western officials also express doubts about this, as reported by The Washington Post.
