- According to official statistics, as of the end of 2024, there are 36,600 people employed in the textile industry of Kyrgyzstan. This information was announced on January 16, 2026, by the Minister of Economy Bakyt Sydykov during a meeting of the parliamentary group "Ala-Too".

The minister noted that if related sectors such as logistics are taken into account, the total number of employees and entrepreneurs in this field significantly increases. "If we include workers from related areas, the total number of entrepreneurs in the textile industry reaches 150,000," emphasized Sydykov.

The head of the Ministry of Economy also pointed out that official data does not reflect the full picture. "Although 36,600 workers are registered, the actual number may be significantly higher," he added.

Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov highlighted the difficulties faced by textile manufacturers since September 2025, stating that "the situation requires attention." He also noted that entrepreneurs had approached the ministry for support but did not receive it. "What is the ministry doing to address these problems?" asked Salymbekov.

In response, the minister announced the launch of new financial support for businesses. "On January 14, a program for preferential financing for small and medium-sized enterprises was approved," said Sydykov. According to him, the total volume of loans will amount to 3 billion soms, of which 300 million will be allocated from the budget for subsidies.

"Entrepreneurs will be able to receive loans on preferential terms at 6% per annum for a period of up to 60 months," the minister added.
