According to economist Nasirdin Shamshiev, the industrial sector of the country is expected to grow by at least 7.5% in 2026, while the construction industry is projected to show a growth rate of 20%. These forecasts were announced in an interview on the radio.

Shamshiev noted that plans for the creation of water intake facilities and reservoirs have already been approved. As part of these initiatives, the construction of 120 facilities is planned, which will allow Kyrgyzstan to achieve complete self-sufficiency in water supply.

In addition, the completion of work on an alternative road connecting the north and south of the country is anticipated, which should significantly reduce the load on the Osh–Bishkek highway. The process of modernizing the railway fleet is also ongoing.

A key factor contributing to economic growth, according to Shamshiev, is the development of domestic demand. He added: “An increase in cash among the population leads to a rise in consumption. Domestic demand should increase by at least 4.5%.”

The economist emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized businesses, which account for 51% of the country’s gross domestic product. In this direction, low interest rates on loans are planned, as well as interest-free business support programs, alongside financing for agricultural projects.

According to Shamshiev, such measures have already helped 20,000 entrepreneurs receive over 12 billion soms and create approximately 21,000 jobs.
