According to the information from the Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, the water level in Lake Issyk-Kul has decreased by almost 14 meters since the mid-19th century, and the total volume of water has reduced by approximately 85 billion cubic meters. This statement was made at the "Sustainable Impact Forum," which took place as part of the World Government Summit in Dubai, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture's press service.

Torobaev noted that there is also a significant reduction in the number of rivers flowing into the lake. This is related to changes in the hydrological regime, glacier melting, and increased water consumption.

The minister emphasized that Issyk-Kul represents a unique ecosystem of regional significance and is an important natural and socio-economic resource for Kyrgyzstan. Further decreases in water levels could lead to serious ecological and social consequences, threatening biodiversity, tourism attractiveness, and the well-being of the region's population.

He added that the preservation of Issyk-Kul should become part of the global agenda on climate and water resources. Torobaev called for expanding international cooperation in sustainable water resource management, integrating climate and ecosystem-related issues, and supporting joint initiatives for the protection of unique natural sites.

Kyrgyzstan is ready to be a reliable partner in protective measures for the conservation of water ecosystems and the formation of a sustainable future in the field of water supply.
