This event was an important step in the lead-up to the Regional Environmental Summit scheduled for 2026.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, the key task of the meeting was to discuss the Concept of the Regional Platform for "Green Schools." This concept will be approved during a high-level round table on the topic of "Children, Youth, and Climate." Participants emphasized the need to develop climate-resilient educational systems in the context of increasing transboundary environmental issues in the region.

Nadira Jusupbekova presented a report on the current state and ongoing reforms in the field of greening education in Kyrgyzstan. She noted that efforts are being made towards resource conservation, enhancing safety and climate resilience of school infrastructure, as well as integrating environmental themes into educational programs. The country has about 120 climate-resilient schools, projects are being implemented to improve energy efficiency, building codes have been updated, and standards for "green schools" are being developed.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan in collaboration with the UNICEF office.
