During the discussion, issues of cooperation in enhancing human resources capacity were addressed, and the results of the JDS scholarship program, implemented jointly with JICA and JICE, were analyzed.
According to available information, the JDS program provides for the training of specialists in master's and doctoral programs for the 20th cohort, for which the Japanese government allocated 399 million yen as a grant.
From 2006 to 2025, 327 state and municipal employees of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as 28 specialists under the "Young Leaders" program, have undergone training in Japan.
During the meeting, the following initiative was proposed:
- to increase the quota of the JDS program to 50 places (currently 20 places, of which 19 for master's programs and 1 for doctoral programs),
- to expand the "Young Leaders" program to 10 places.
The ambassador expressed readiness to convey these proposals to the Japanese side.
Jantayev emphasized that 2026 is an important milestone in bilateral cooperation, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the JDS program and the 25th anniversary of JICA's representation in Kyrgyzstan.
