In Kyrgyzstan, there has been a significant increase in budget funding for youth. Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev announced this at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with science, education, innovation, culture, sports, and youth policy.

He specified that the amount allocated for these purposes previously was 4 million soms, and it has now increased to 50 million soms.

Additionally, the ministry also supports youth initiatives through the mechanism of state social orders.

“Starting in 2023, we launched a competition for youth organizations, within which we select the most significant projects and provide funding of up to 1 million soms. In 2025, 11 projects were supported with a total of 10 million soms,” the deputy minister added.

Marat Tagaev also noted that the concept of the youth movement has been integrated into the legislation of Kyrgyzstan, and in 2024, the first kurultai of this organization took place. Currently, there are 86 representations of the youth movement operating in the country, and youth councils have been established in local government bodies. These councils, with the support of the ministry, organize various events and implement projects.

In his report, Tagaev reminded that the adopted concept of youth policy for 2020-2030 includes activities aimed at expanding opportunities for youth, improving employment, and strengthening the educational system.

Every two years, a national study titled "Index of Well-Being and Development of Youth in Kyrgyzstan" is conducted in the country. The latest study took place in 2025, and its results were published in January 2026.

He also detailed to the deputies the competitions for youth in which Kyrgyz citizens participate, as well as their contributions to various sectors at both national and international levels.

As of 2025, the number of citizens of Kyrgyzstan aged 14 to 35 was 2 million 519 thousand people.
