Significant progress is being observed in Kyrgyzstan in the field of video surveillance and facial recognition technologies, which have become an important element in enhancing public safety. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country reports that cameras installed in public places not only facilitate the rapid detection of offenses but also aid in solving crimes and preventing their occurrence.
Since 2022, a facial recognition system has been successfully operating at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Operational Management Center. It has allowed for the identification of more than 3,000 suspects and has also assisted in the search for missing persons. Currently, over 3,000 cameras are functioning in real-time, utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to analyze incoming information.
The effectiveness of the system is impressive, as it can recognize faces even when individuals are wearing medical masks or glasses. In the event of a match being detected, the information is automatically transmitted to operational services without delay.
In the future, as part of the "Safe Country" project, it is planned to install up to 20,000 modern video cameras throughout the territory of the republic, which will undoubtedly strengthen the security system.
