American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk expressed the opinion that the greatest danger to the safe development of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics comes not from private companies, but from government structures. According to him, governments can use these technologies to suppress the population.
“Perhaps the biggest threat to the proper direction of AI development is the state. Authorities have the ability to use AI and robots to control people. This really raises serious concerns,” Musk noted in an interview he gave to bloggers Dvarkesh Patel and John Collison.
Moreover, Musk emphasized that corporations can generally be more moral than government bodies and effectively equated them to governments.
Previously, Musk has repeatedly warned about the risks of uncontrolled artificial intelligence, comparing it to a "demon." He also stressed the need to create ethical standards and regulations to ensure the safe development of AI so that this process remains under human control.
