Based on the latest statements from the country's president, Bakyt Zhumagulov, director of the Eurasian Strategic Research Center, presented his viewpoint specifically for Vesti.
Kazakhstan is currently showcasing a rare harmony for the post-Soviet space between sustainable economic development, consistent political modernization, and active foreign policy. These are not random measures but a well-thought-out course contributing to the formation of a new model of state development.
Regarding the economy, the direction is clear — an emphasis on diversification and technological innovations. The country is gradually reducing its dependence on raw materials, focusing on the development of industry, logistics, infrastructure, and human capital. The results are already evident: the gross domestic product exceeds 300 billion dollars, and the income per capita is 15 thousand dollars. These indicators reflect not just growth but also a qualitative transformation of the economy, as well as an improvement in the living standards of the population.
However, significant changes are occurring not only in the economic sphere. The political aspect also plays a key role. Kazakhstan is actively moving away from the super-presidential model in favor of a system of checks and balances. This includes the redistribution of powers, strengthening institutions, and enhancing the role of parliament and public oversight. The country is transitioning to a new level of political modernization, where human rights and freedoms become a fundamental principle of state policy. This is an important signal for both citizens and international partners.
Regional integration also remains an important direction. Kazakhstan aims to become a central logistics hub of Eurasia. The development of the transport corridor through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan connects Central and South Asia, increases trade volumes, and opens new markets. Thus, Kazakhstan is transforming into a strategically important bridge between regions, enhancing its economic and geopolitical significance.
It is also worth emphasizing Kazakhstan's approach to international issues. The country's position is based on pragmatism and respect for international law. In debates on territorial and geopolitical issues, including sensitive aspects such as the status of Greenland, the emphasis is placed on contractual mechanisms and long-term agreements that ensure mutual benefits. I am convinced that all decisions should be made exclusively within the framework of international law and with full respect for the sovereignty of countries. This is a mature and responsible diplomatic position.
Additionally, views on global security should be noted. Today, the world faces a crisis of effectiveness in international institutions, including the UN. However, instead of radical changes in the security architecture, additional cooperation mechanisms are proposed to strengthen existing structures rather than dismantle them. This approach appears realistic and constructive.
In general, Kazakhstan demonstrates a strategy of consistent and balanced reforms. Economic growth, changes in the institutional sphere, and a reasoned foreign policy form a sustainable development model. This is a path oriented towards stability, sovereignty, and improving the quality of life for the population, rather than loud slogans.
