Aibek Junushaliev: A road will be built around the local cemetery in Novopavlovka

At a meeting with residents of MTU "Novopavlovka," the mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, discussed important issues regarding the situation with the local cemetery and plans for the construction of a new road.

In the area of the cemetery, through which the extension of Profsoyuznaya Street is planned, there are 1,364 graves. The mayor noted that from 2021 to 2024, there have been more than 50 cases of illegal burials here. According to Junushaliev, citizens violated rules and sanitary norms by placing graves too close to each other and on the trajectory of the proposed road.

In order to comply with all norms, the city administration consulted with the clergy in advance. "The bishop and the mufti confirmed that in such cases, reburial is permitted," Aibek Junushaliev reported, adding that the actions of the authorities comply with legislation allowing for the relocation of remains in case of violation of sanitary norms.

The mayor also expressed serious concern about sanitary safety in the area. He warned that the use of heavy machinery near unregulated burials could lead to damage to old graves and the creation of an infection zone.

To minimize risks, city services decided to build the road around the cemetery. However, to implement the project, part of the territory needs to be cleared:

Currently, the authorities have closed the cemetery to new burials. The mayor acknowledged that at this time there is no alternative site for a new cemetery in this area, and therefore the municipality is actively searching for suitable land.

"There are no winners or losers here," Aibek Junushaliev summarized the meeting, emphasizing that the administration strives to find a balance between respecting the memory of the deceased and the need for urban infrastructure development.
