The Central Asian rounds took place in Tashkent
The national qualifying round for Central Asian countries in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition concluded triumphantly for the team from the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), which will now represent Kyrgyzstan at the international level in Washington, D.C., USA!
The competition took place from February 6 to 8 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where the best teams from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan competed for the opportunity to advance to the global stage of the competition.
The AUCA team consisted of:
- Akbar Aitemirov (3rd year)
- Sevinch Muminbekova (3rd year)
- Aijazbuche Bekbolotova (2nd year)
- Shirin Shakirova (2nd year)
The coaches were Begayim Seyitbekova and Bolenat Dutta.
As a result of the rounds, the AUCA team not only took first place among Kyrgyz universities but also received an award for the best written memorandum.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest and most prestigious international competition in international law for law school students, with participation from over 700 universities from more than 100 countries. Participants simulate court proceedings in the International Court of Justice and prepare both written memoranda and oral presentations.
“Participation in such international competitions provides students with a unique opportunity to make a name for themselves on the global stage and become part of a global community of young lawyers. We are proud of our AUCA team. Their success is the result of hard work, high academic preparation, and cohesion. We are confident that they will represent Kyrgyzstan well in Washington. We wish them confidence and bright performances,” noted university representatives.
The team's preparation for the international competition began in September under the guidance of experienced law instructors. During the preparation process, students deepened their knowledge by studying legal literature and academic articles, which helped them develop professional skills and successfully tackle complex legal issues.
It is worth noting that AUCA has been in a leading position in the Central Asian rounds of this competition for five years, which confirms the high level of student preparation and the academic strength of the law faculty.
Currently, the team is actively preparing for the international rounds, which will take place in the USA from March 28 to April 4.
Let’s wish them good luck and new professional successes!
