The Ombudsman Institute helped restore the rights of workers in Talas

Residents of Talas turned to the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jamilia Jamangbaeva, seeking to protect their labor rights, the institute's press service reported.

In their statement, 21 individuals reported that from January 5 to 16, they worked on the construction of an apartment building in Talas, which was being built as part of a project by the State Mortgage Company. On January 16, they were suddenly suspended from work without explanation, and about 60 workers from another country were brought in to take their place.

The applicants noted that no employment contracts were signed when they were hired; however, there was a timekeeping log, and there is photographic and video evidence of their labor activities. They requested assistance in restoring their rights and facilitating their re-employment.

The Ombudsman Institute sent official requests to the Labor Law Control and Supervision Service, the State Mortgage Company, the regional prosecutor's office, and the Presidential Representative Office in the Talas region.

In the response from the State Mortgage Company, it was indicated that the company is the customer of the construction, while the actual construction work is being carried out by the state enterprise "Kyrgyzstroyservice." During the investigation, it was also revealed that another company had previously been involved with the project but withdrew, after which the contractual obligations were transferred to a new contractor.

After the institute's intervention, the current contractor agreed to consider the possibility of employing local residents if they meet the qualifications and experience requirements.

In early February, the applicants reported that they had been re-employed, expressing gratitude to the ombudsman for the assistance provided.
