On February 26, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised an urgent question about the progress of investigations into well-known criminal cases.

She noted that recently she has received numerous appeals from citizens who have come under investigation.

According to Surabaldiyeva, "after the recent political changes, people are reaching out to me, saying they are being intimidated during elections, excluded from participation, and their property, which seemingly should go to the state treasury, is actually ending up in someone's personal possession."

An example of this is the case of the mother of the former mayor of Tokmok, who has been accused of embezzling 1 billion soms. She reported that the proceedings are ongoing, but she has no opportunity to meet with her son or obtain information about what is happening with the case. She also mentioned that one of the employees of the secretariat received a 12-year prison sentence, and her son was also convicted. At the same time, those who steal billions are released after paying a certain amount. And if a person has no defense, their fate is entirely different. It is difficult for me to respond to such appeals. Do you have any information on this case? Were the funds really stolen? I understand that a mother's words can be emotional, but she claims that the lawyer is also not provided with information about the progress of the case. Meanwhile, officials remain silent. The woman suspects that this is related to political games and is asking for the case to be reviewed. The number of such appeals is increasing," she reported.

In response, Deputy Attorney General Umutkan Konkubaeva stated that she would obtain information on this case in writing to ensure the confidentiality of the investigation.

Surabaldiyeva also inquired: "Given everything that is happening, could there be any political thaw? Will decisions be reviewed?"

Konkubaeva explained: "Everything must happen within the framework of the law. A review is only possible upon the request of an interested party or in the presence of new facts."

Surabaldiyeva clarified: "We are talking about high-profile and unjust cases."

The Deputy Attorney General replied: "If a petition is submitted, the case will be reviewed. It is necessary to contact the General Prosecutor's Office, and it will exercise control."
