With the start of the new season for using electric scooters in Bishkek, city authorities plan to implement a system for temporary or complete blocking of users in scooter-sharing applications for violations of traffic rules. This was announced in a statement by the press service of the City Hall, following a meeting with operators of scooter rental services, where the need for increased control and the introduction of real penalties for violators was emphasized.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Ilyas Kolopov, head of the office, and gathered representatives from companies providing short-term electric scooter rental services in the capital.
During the meeting, issues concerning the alignment of operators' activities with current legislation and traffic rules were discussed, as well as the necessity of ensuring order when using electric scooters in the urban environment.
Representatives of scooter-sharing companies were recommended to enhance control over user actions, including the possibility of imposing sanctions on those who violate traffic rules while renting electric scooters.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of effective accountability mechanisms, which may include temporary or complete restriction of access to electric scooter rental services through mobile applications for users who commit violations.
The Bishkek City Hall also reminds residents and guests of the capital about the importance of following safety rules when using personal mobility devices, urging everyone to take road safety seriously and to contribute to creating a culture of mutual respect and law and order in the urban environment.
