During today's session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Burun Amanova raised the issue of the increasing number of incidents involving electric scooters that are hitting pedestrians on sidewalks. She noted that in many other countries, the use of scooters is either completely banned or strictly limited, and she inquired whether stricter regulations for their operation are planned in Kyrgyzstan.

In response, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov reported on current efforts to regulate the movement of electric scooters and mopeds.

He added that after the necessary changes to the legislation, the city administration will have the right to register scooters, which, in turn, will increase the interest of city authorities in creating specialized infrastructure. He also noted that separate lanes for scooter movement are already planned in Bishkek.
