At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 15, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva emphasized that protection orders are often issued only to women, although all members of the household suffer from domestic violence.

She noted that such orders often have a formal character and raised the question of how they are implemented in practice.

Kultaeva pointed out: "New cases of domestic violence are recorded daily. Although protection orders are issued to victims, they often remain just on paper. What measures are being taken for their actual enforcement? Furthermore, protection does not extend to all family members, only to women."

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev agreed that the number of incidents of domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan is increasing. He added that the legislation has tightened penalties for violence against women and children, and work is being done to improve the mechanisms related to protection orders.

The deputy also inquired whether responsible individuals are held accountable for inadequate responses to such cases.

Ashirkhodzhaev replied: "If an employee has made mistakes or shown negligence, and their actions can be classified as a crime, they will be held accountable. We monitor every case of domestic violence."

Kultaeva requested information on the statistics of domestic violence for the past six months.
