The deputy requested clarifications from the authorities
At a meeting dedicated to agricultural policy, ecology, and environmental protection, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva expressed concern about the increasing number of hepatitis cases in Tash-Kumyr.
She noted that residents of the city often approach deputies with complaints: every year, five to six people progress to liver cirrhosis, which can lead to tragic consequences. Moreover, as the deputy emphasized, the relevant ministries have not yet provided clear explanations regarding the causes of the spread of this disease.
“People hear various versions: from water problems to the influence of animals and fish. These are just speculations. The population needs a concrete answer, and why is no one taking measures? There are no free tests, and this infectious disease poses a threat to everyone,” Kultaeva stated.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev responded that some liver diseases can be transmitted from animals to humans. He cited examples such as echinococcosis and alveococcosis, the sources of which can be both domestic and wild animals, including dogs, cats, wolves, and foxes.
Kerimaliev also pointed out that in Tash-Kumyr, water could be another cause of diseases. He emphasized that both people and animals bathe in the Naryn River, so the water must undergo a three-stage purification process before consumption.
