The role of women with disabilities discussed in Bishkek

In honor of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, an event was held

On March 2, a press café titled "Women with Disabilities: Leadership Without Barriers" took place in Bishkek. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration.

Participants included women with disabilities, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, representatives of government agencies, media, public organizations, and international partners.

The main focus was on the contribution of women with disabilities to the country's development, discussing issues of inclusive policy, as well as the correct and ethical coverage of topics related to disability and gender in the media.

Additionally, inspiring stories of women leaders with disabilities from various regions were presented to the participants.

The Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, Ainura Orozbaeva, noted in her speech that the leadership of women with disabilities is an important factor in overcoming physical and social barriers, as well as in combating double discrimination and promoting inclusion.

She emphasized that women and girls with disabilities often become victims of violence, face social isolation, and have limited access to services.

In her opinion, state policy should take into account their unique needs and ensure real participation in decision-making processes.

The Ministry actively supports the protection of the rights of women and girls, especially those facing multiple forms of discrimination.

From 2024 to 2025, training workshops for advocates, prosecutors, investigators, and social workers on the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities who have become victims of violence are planned to be held in all regions of the country. More than 400 specialists will undergo training.
