Recently, a free master class on the ancient technique of water painting, known as ebru, took place in Bishkek. This event attracted a large number of participants eager not only to observe the process but also to try creating their own patterns. A correspondent from VB.KG attended the event and met with the leading master.
At the master class, participants learned to create drawings on water and transfer them to paper alongside an experienced master. For many, this experience was their first encounter with ebru, and the residents of the capital noted that the process turned out to be not only fascinating but also captivating.
The ebru master is Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy, who has been studying this art for four to five years. She shared that she was taught by the famous Turkish master Hikmet Barutçugil, who has been included in UNESCO's list of "Living Human Treasures."
- We invited him from Turkey, and it inspired us. One of the key aspects of learning ebru is patience. Even if you have the best materials, it will be difficult to master this technique without patience, - Mukhlisa shared.
According to her, many face difficulties in creating the desired drawings at the beginning of their training.
- The first attempts may be unsuccessful. But if you show patience, everything will work out. I learned through trial and error myself, - she added.
Additionally, the master mentioned that at the end of the month, there are plans to invite Hikmet Barutçugil to Bishkek.
- If everything goes well, he will come to us. This will be a great opportunity for everyone interested in ebru to learn from a world-renowned master, - she noted.
Mukhlisa Kodirberdi kyzy also emphasized that ebru is used not only as an artistic technique but also as a form of art therapy.
- Nowadays, children spend a lot of time with gadgets. Ebru helps distract them from screens, develops imagination, and promotes relaxation. When a person paints on water, they find peace and enjoyment in the process, - concluded the master.
